Approved through
February 1989 with the understanding that when cognitive and
related research on the CPS-1 questionnaire is initiated the Bureau
of Labor Statistics will convene one or more meetings of federal
and private sector users of CPS-1 data to obtain user views on
issues to be addressed in the research. It is understood that the
discussion will take place within the framework of current labor
force concepts and will be guided by the need for continuity in
major employment and unemployment time series. As part of its
request for future extension of the CPS-1 clearance, BLS will be
expected to provide a progress report on the status of research
plans affecting the CPS-1.
