These data collections provide BJS with aggregate information about offenders under the supervision of parole and probation agencies across the country. We cover every agency by collecting data from 93 central respondents and 250 local respondents. Because nearly 70 percent of the 5.7 million offenders under correctional supervision are under parole or probation supervision, it is essential for any reporting system to include this population.
