of 2-2-00 and 2-14-00. In addition, the following terms shall be
observed. 1. OSHA shall regularly brief OMB on the development of
the construction data initiative. 2. Approval is granted for all
categories except for employers with fewer than 40 employees in
categories 10 and 12 of response 2 in the supporting statement. 3.
OSHA will investigate what steps it can take to further encourage
electronic filing of responses. It will report on possible steps by
the time of the next submission. 4. OSHA shall continue the audits
of data quality focusing part- icularly on the quality of responses
from smaller firms. 5. OSHA shall continue its implementation of
the recommendations of last year's audits. 6. DOL will complete
comparison of the Data Initiative data with data from the IMIS
system by April 2000, and will report on this comparison as part of
the next submission of this collection.

To meet the Agency's program needs,
OSHA is proposing to continue its initiative to collect injury and
illness data and the number of workers and hours worked from
establishments in portions of the private sector and some State
government agencies.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
