Extension, for 6
months, of current customer satisfaction surveys described in
justification and attachment 1. BTS also would continue monthly
omnibus surveys and special surveys descri bed in the supplemental
justification of 9/8/00. BTS has informed OMB that it intends
rebiding the survey contract and that there will certain
modifications to the plan (e. g. for establishment surveys) set
forth in the justification. In the interim, BTS should submit
significant modifications to the monthly surveys and the final
instruments for the special surveys for final 10 day review before
initiating the field surveys. BTS should resubmit the 9/8/00
justification when the final modifications are ready for OMB
review. These will not require additional public notice and
comment.

In response to Executive Order #12862,
the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) implemented plans and
requirements for measuring customer satisfaction with BTS and
Department of Transportation programs and services. BTS has
implemented a wide range of customer satisfaction surveys, and
plans to continue data collections at several levels to better
assess and evaluate customer satisfaction within products,
services, and overall preformance of the agency over the next three
years.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
