satisfaction surveys across the government, that NIH/NLM provide
each survey for OMB review along with a brief justification, burden
estimate, and description of any statistical methods used. OMB will
either approve the request or provide comments to NIH/NLM within
ten working days of receipt.

Executive Order 12862 direct Federal
agencies to survey customers to determine the kind and quality of
services they want. NLM is requesting extension of OMB approval for
generic clearance to conduct a number of customer/partner
satisfaction surveys. NLM will collect and use information gathered
through customer and/or partner surveys to identify strengths and
weaknesses in current service provisions and to make improvements
that are practical and feasible. Information from the surveys will
be used to plan and direct resources and efforts to improve or
maintain our high quality of service to the affected public.
