OMB notes that
DHS has not complied with the previous terms of clearance. Previous
terms of clearance were as follows: "In the next submission of this
package, INS will discuss whether and how the I-92 can be
consolidated with the I-418. This information collection package
has been given a one year clearance, given current discussions in
Congress and within the Administration on security issues. In the
next submission of this package, INS will discuss any revisions
necessitated by heightened national security concerns. INS will
meet with OMB to establish plans for electronic submission of this
and other INS forms." OMB has granted 6 month approval to allow DHS
to determine how to respond to this previous terms of clearance.
Further, upon resubmission, DHS will: (1) provide a transition plan
describing how this form will be unnecessary as a result of
Passenger Manifest requirements in Section 402 of the Enhanced
Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act 2002 and (2) discuss how
this information collection can be consolidated with other federal
agency collections of information. DHS should quantify the
efficiency gains and burden reduction resulting from this
consolidation of inter-agency collections.
