The PBGC needs to explore issues of mutual concern (e.g., kind and quality of desired services) with its customers. These issues change over time, and it is important that the PBGC quickly evaluate them. This request seeks to extend the current "generic" approval, for a three-year period, to conduct focus groups and surveys.

Cutting Redundancy
The decrease in the estimated annual burden is due to the PBGC’s reliance on the American Customer Satisfaction Index Survey (ACSI Survey), OMB Number 3090-0271, sponsored by the Department of the Treasury. The ACSI Survey reduced PBGC’s need to measure customer satisfaction. The decrease also reflects PBGC’s re-evaluation of the potential number of surveys and respondents. The $65 hourly burden reflects an increase of $15 from the current burden of $50 per hour and is based on an updated estimate of hourly billing rates. The PBGC will provide specific burden estimates when requesting OMB approval under the generic procedures.
