This revision is due to a NPRM, titled "Requirements for Intermodal Equipment Providers and Motor Carriers and Drivers Operating Intermodal Equipment, that would require intermodal equipment providers to establish a systematic inspection, repair, and maintenance program and maintain records documenting the program. In addition, they would also be required to establish a process for a motor carrier or its driver to report defects or deficiencies they discover or which are reported to them.
