Form EIA-886 is an annual survey of the number of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and other advanced technology vehicles made available in the previous and following calendar years and the number, type, and geographic distribution of AFVs in use and the alternative transportation fuels (ATFs) they consume. The data on AFVs and ATFs are used to provide Congress with a measure of the extent to which the objectives of the Energy Policy Act of 1992 are being achieved, and to provide an accurate picture of the availability of AFVs in the US. Respondents are manufacturers and converters of AFVs and advanced technology vehicles and users of AFVs and ATFs
