Analytical and Technical Support for Advancing Education Evaluations: Study of the Relevance and Utility of NCEE Products

What is the purpose of this study?

Who is conducting the study?

The National Center for Education Evaluation (NCEE) of the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) wants to learn more about who uses IES-funded products and how users perceive the relevance and usefulness of these products. NCEE products of interest include the Regional Educational Laboratories’ (RELs) Bridge Events, REL fast response reports, and reports from federally funded evaluations of education interventions.

IES has contracted with Mathematica Policy Research, a nationally recognized policy research organization, to conduct this study. For more than 40 years, Mathematica has provided research-based information to improve policy and programs in education, health, and employment. For more information about Mathematica, visit their website at www.mathematica-mpr.com.

What are the benefits to participating?

The information that you provide will help IES improve the relevance and usefulness of its research and evaluations, and also aid in planning future REL research reports.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be asked to fill out an online questionnaire. The questionnaire will cover topics related to REL research published in the Issues & Answers or Technical Briefs series of reports and provides an opportunity to suggest future research topics. Of course, your participation is voluntary and you can choose to participate or not.

Will my responses be confidential?

All data will be kept strictly confidential. Responses to this data collection will be used only for statistical purposes. The reports prepared for this study will summarize findings across the sample and will not associate responses with a specific individual. We will not provide information that identifies you to anyone outside the study team, except as required by law.

What are the risks associated with participation?

There are no risks associated with participation in this study. Rigorous Mathematica confidentiality and security information technology guidelines will be in place to protect the security of the information transmitted over the internet. For example, you will be assigned a unique user name and unique password to access the questionnaire, and responses will be stored on a secure web server.

What if I have questions?

Please contact Dr. Sameena Salvucci, senior fellow at Mathematica Policy Research, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 202-484-4215.

Thank you for your interest in this study.
