The data collected on the BE-11 survey
provide a variety of measures of the overall opertions of U.S.
parent companies and their foreign affiliates. The data are needed
to measure the size and economic significance of U.S. direct
investment abroad, measure changes in such investment and assess
it's impact on the U.S. and foreign economics.
In order to align BEA's survey
program with available resources, which have declined as a result
of a recent reduction in its budget, BEA proposes changes in the
reporting criteria, which resulted in a program change decrease.
The adjustment increase is associated with growth in the number and
average size of U.S. parent companies and foreign affiliates since
the previously approved survey.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
