standards to safeguard the welfare of apprentices and to extend the
application of such standards by prescribing policies and
procedures concerning registration of apprenticeship. This
information collection, ETA 671, has two sections. The first
records the sponsor's information and the second is for the
apprentice's information. The information is collected on a
one-time basis.

The decrease of respondents to
248,728 and of burden hours to 26,757 reflects (1) fewer
applicants/sponsors and (2) the reduced response time realized
through increased automation - from 15 minutes to 5 minutes or
fewer in the Apprenticeship Registration - Section II of the Form
(specifically, section pertaining to 29 CFR § 29.3) because of
automation and pre-population through RAPIDS.
