The data collected on the BE-11 survey
provide a variety of measures of the overall operations of U.S.
parent companies and their foreign affiliates. The data are needed
to measure the size and economic significance of U.S. direct
investment abroad, measure changes in such investment and assess
it's impact on the U.S. and foreign economics.
The change of +30,950 burden
hours consists of +39,328 hours attributable to an adjustment,
which is offset by -8,378 hours attributable to a program change.
The decreases in respondent burden accounted for by changes in
reporting criteria are more than offset by increases in burden
associated with growth in the number and average size of U.S.
parent companies and foreign affiliates since the survey was last
cleared.
