SUBJECT: 2011 Annual Parole Survey

Thank you for your continued participation in the 2011 Annual Parole Survey. This collection was fielded in December 2011 by the U.S. Census Bureau, on behalf of the Bureau of Justice Statistics. This survey has a requested completion date of February 28, 2012. If you are receiving this reminder and have already submitted, we apologize for sending you this reminder, and thank you for your submittal. After processing your form, we may be contacting you to clarify any questions so as to ensure that your reporting jurisdictions are represented as accurately as possible.

If you have not submitted, we want to quietly remind you of the upcoming due date. These data are not available from any other source, causing researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to rely heavily upon them to track changes in the parole population at both the national and state levels, and to inform policy development and criminal justice planning. Because these data are also essential to the support of criminal justice information systems at all levels of government, the Bureau of Justice Statistics is challenged each year to provide these data more quickly than the previous year, a goal that would be unattainable without your help. Completed surveys may be submitted via the web (http://harvester.census.gov/aspp), mail, or fax (1-888-891-2099).

We understand that inclement weather may have already impeded some respondents’ ability to submit by February 28, 2012. If your submittal will be delayed for this or any other reason, or if you have not received a copy of your survey, or are in need of any other assistance, please contact (name), the collection agent at the U.S. Census Bureau, at 1-800-253-2078 or [email protected], or Tom Bonczar, the project manager at the Bureau of Justice Statistics, at (202)616-3615 or [email protected].

We look forward to receiving your completed surveys and thank you in advance for your assistance with this data collection.
