Abstract: Under the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) of 2001, TSA prescribes standards for hiring and continued employment of air carrier and airport security personnel. Also, ATSA requires certain employees who were not subject to a background security check to undergo a criminal history records check. TSA implemented its employment standards at 49 CFR Parts 1542 and 1544 in February, 2002. This information collection remains critical.
