To provide Special Supplemental
Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)which
provides food benefits, nutrition education, and health care
referrals to about 8 million participants per month, including
pregnant women, infants, children, breastfeeding women, and
postpartum women.
FNS is requesting 4,024,697
burden hours for an overall increase of 414,703 (205,226 burden
hour reduction due to program changes and 619,929 burden hour
increase due to adjustments). The adjustments are based on changes
in levels of participation and changes in the number and type of
WIC authorized vendors. The Program change in burden hours is due
to the legislative and regulatory reduction to the frequency in
which children are certified as WIC Program participants.
