Motor carriers of passengers and
property must maintain documentation that proves they have in
effect the minimum levels of financial responsibility as set forth
in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
US Code:
49
USC 31138 Name of Law: Bus Regulatory Reform Act of 1982
US Code: 49
USC 31139 Name of Law: Motor Carrier Act of 1980
This revision resulted in a
program adjustment increase in the estimated annual burden hours,
from 4,046 to 4,479, and the estimated total annual responses, from
134,540 to 152,262, for the current insurance filing activity and
registration information requirements. This was due to an increase
in the total number of carriers and an increase in the number of
vehicles into which new financial responsibility documents are
placed each year.
