The data collected on the BE-11 survey
provide a variety of measures of the operations of U.S. parents and
their foreign affiliates. The data are needed to measure the size
and economic significance of U.S. direct investment abroad, measure
changes in such investment, and assess its impact on the U.S. and
foreign economies.
The increase in the estimated
respondent burden is due almost entirely to an increase in the
number of foreign affiliates that meet or exceed the reporting
thresholds on the BE-11 annual survey.
