The data collected will be used for
the application of individual workers to retain a TWIC credential
for security identification purposes. The data will be collected
and a Security Threat Assessment will be conducted on the
individual with outreach too appropriate agency databases. When the
individual is cleared they will be provided a credential containing
information for identification verification at either maritime
facilities or vessel locations. This has been required by the MTSA
Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.
When OMB concluded on
the previous submission of this ICR on 06/28/2012, it provided the
following Terms of Clearance: TSA should submit an Emergency
Information Collection Request, to reflect changes to the program
and burden hours that will result from the Exemption Notice
published in the Federal Register on June 19, 2012 (49 CFR Part
1572 [Docket No. TSA–2006–24191]). This submission is in response
to those terms.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
