The Defense Security Service deploys and analyzes an annual survey of defense industry for personnel security investigative requirements. This survey is critical to assist DoD in planning and requesting sufficient appropriations to ensure that industry personnel security clearance and investigative needs are met. Failure to obtain sufficient and accurate projections can adversely impact US military operations, US government procurement and NISP cleared defense industry.

There is an increase in burden for 2 reasons: 1) There is an increase in the number of respondents since the previous submission; 2) The Contact Validation Test (CVT) instrument was not included as part of the previous submission. The addition of the CVT instrument in the current collection adds to the burden.
