Lifesaving, Electrical, Engineering and Navigation Equipment,
Construction and Materials & Marine Sanitation Devices (33 CFR
part 159)
This information is used by the Coast
Guard to ensure that regulations governing specific types of safety
equipment, material and MSDs installed on commercial vessels and
pleasure craft are met. Manufacturers are required to submit
drawings, specifications, and laboratory test reports to the CG
before any approval is given.

burden hours is an ADJUSTMENT due to an increase in the estimated
annual number of responses. There is no proposed change to the
reporting or recordkeeping requirements of this collection. The
reporting and recordkeeping requirements remain unchanged. The
methodology for calculating responses and burden was revised for
Instructional Materials (Packing) and Marking (Revisions). The
revision is needed to more fully account for the activity
level.
