OSHA is proposing to remove the requirement that employers document employee’s social security number (SSN) in their exposure and medical records. Time to document SSN in records is negligible and therefore, the Agency is not requesting changes to the burden hour or cost estimates in this ICR. In addition, OSHA is requesting an adjustment decrease in the burden hours from 237,854 hours to 237,840 hours (14 hours). The adjustment decrease in burden is due the Agency’s determination that the requirement for employers to make records available to OSHA upon request is no longer considered a collection of information. OSHA typically requests access to records during an inspection, and information collected by the Agency during the investigation is not subject to the PRA under 5 CFR 1320.4(a)(2).
