Subpart I requires that employers
perform hazard assessments of the workplace to determine if
personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and to communicate
PPE selection decisions to affected workers. Employers must
document that the hazard assessment has been conducted.

The final rule will result in a
program change increase of 2,378,707 burden hours. The increase is
due to the addition of the personal fall protection requirements in
the Personal Fall Protection final rule.
