The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 established several mandates for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to fulfill. One of those mandates was to survey our customers to determine their level of satisfaction with the IRS’s overall job performance, and to solicit ideas for the improvement of our services.

The Large Business and International Division (LB&I) of the IRS is polling taxpayers to obtain feedback on overall performance with recently closed examinations. This letter is to let you know that you have been randomly selected to participate in the survey. In about a week, you will be receiving a questionnaire in the mail. The questionnaire should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

The primary purpose for requesting this information is to help the IRS improve its service to taxpayers. Our authority for requesting the information is 5 USC and 26 USC 7801. Providing information is voluntary. However, if you do not answer all or part of the survey questions, the IRS may lack information it could use to improve taxpayer service. The information you provide may be disclosed to an IRS contractor when authorized by law. The contractor is required to follow confidentiality protections required by the Privacy Act and /or Internal Revenue Code section 6103.

The IRS is not contacting taxpayers directly but has asked an independent research firm, Pacific Consulting Group and their subcontractor Scantron, to conduct the research. These companies are acting on behalf of LB&I. Your responses will be sent directly to Scantron, not to the IRS. Please take the time to participate in this study and use this opportunity to be candid about our performance.

To verify the authenticity of this survey, please visit IRS.gov and enter the search term “customer surveys.” The IRS Customer Satisfaction Survey page contains a list of valid, current and unexpired, IRS surveys and as of this issuance should provide a reference to LB&I International Individual Compliance Examinations.

La ley de Reestructuración y Reforma de 1998 del Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS, por sus siglas en ingles) estableció varios mandatos que cumplir para el Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS). Uno de los mandatos consistió en encuestar a nuestros clientes para determinar su nivel de satisfacción con el desempeño general del IRS, y para solicitar ideas para la mejora de nuestros servicios.

La División de Negocios Grandes e Internacionales (LB&I, por sus siglas en ingles) del IRS esta encuestando a contribuyentes de impuestos para obtener información sobre el desempeño general de las auditorias cerradas recientemente. Esta carta es para hacerle saber que usted ha sido seleccionado al azar para participar en la encuesta. Aproximadamente en una semana, usted va a recibir un cuestionario por correo. El cuestionario debe tomar menos de 10 minutos para completar.

El principal propósito de solicitar esta información es ayudar al IRS a mejorar el servicio a los contribuyentes. Nuestra autoridad para solicitar la información es 5 USC y 26 USC 7801. Proveer información es voluntaria. Sin embargo, si usted no contesta la totalidad o parte de las preguntas de la encuesta, al IRS le puede faltar información que podría utilizar para mejorar el servicio al contribuyente. La información que usted provee puede ser compartida con un contratista del IRS cuando sea autorizado por la ley. El contratista está obligado a cumplir con las protecciones de confidencialidad exigidas por la Ley de Privacidad y/o de la sección 6103 del código del IRS.
