The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and
Consumer Protection Act and other federal consumer financial laws
authorize the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (BCFP or Bureau)
to engage in consumer protection rule writing. This PRA clearance
request seeks approval from the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) to conduct a web survey of 8,000 individuals as part of the
Bureau’s research on debt collection disclosures. The survey will
explore consumer comprehension and decision making in response to
debt collection disclosure forms. The survey will oversample
respondents who have had experience with debt collection in the
past.
