As discussed with the agency, they will look into ways to leverage administrative data on large operations from state agencies certifying them. NAMHS should also work with a State with existing state legislation on bovine health, like California, to integrate health-specific information contained in Phase 1 of this survey in the administrative records surrounding operation permitting and licensing. This will allow the agency to improve coverage irrespective of response rates while reducing burden and costs.

The NAHMS Feedlot Study will deliver statistically valid, scientifically sound livestock information pertaining to antimicrobial usage in feedlots, management practices in feedlots that impact product quality, and biosecurity practices and capabilities in feedlots.
