Abstract: Rule 17h-1T requires a covered broker-dealer to maintain and preserve records regarding the financial and securities activities, and other information concerning the holding company, affiliates, and subsidiaries of the broker-dealer that are reasonably likely to have a material impact on the financial or operational condition of the broker-dealer. Rule 17h-2T requires a covered broker-dealer to file with the Commission quarterly reports and a cumulative year-end report concerning the information required to be maintained and preserved under Rule 17h-1T. 2023 Proposal: The Commission has proposed a rule amendment to require Form 17-H to be filed in the Commission's Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system. The Commission has also proposed to require filers to file Item 4 (financial statements) of Form 17-H in EDGAR in the Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (“Inline XBRL”), which is a structured data language. The Inline XBRL requirement for Item 4 would be new. The EDGAR-filing requirement also would be new, although Form 17-H filers currently can file in EDGAR voluntarily and the vast majority of them elect to do so. However, the Commission has not proposed to change the substance of the information collection, only the manner in which the information is filed.
