Subsection 17(a) of the Ocean Shipping
Reform Act of 2022 requires that the Commission establish on their
public website a webpage that allows for the submission of
comments, complaints, concerns, reports of noncompliance, requests
for investigation, and requests for alternative dispute resolution.
The FMC Assistance Center is in support of this requirement.
Additionally, it will replace the existing collection for Consumer
Assistance and Dispute Resolution Services.
The amounts associated with
Consumer Affairs and Dispute resolution services have decreased in
levels due the agency revising the estimate of the number of
filings involving forms downward to 300 per year. The remaining
burden is due to the new statutory requirement under the Ocean
Shipping Reform Act of 2022.
