Each operator which seeks to obtain, or is in possession of, an air carrier operating certificate is mandated to comply with the requirements of FAR Part 121 in order to maintain (record keeping) data which is used to determine if the air carrier is operating in accordance with minimum safety standards. Original certification is completed in accordance with part 119. Continuing certification is completed in accordance with part 121. The information reviewed as a part of this collection (manuals and guidance documents) is used to determine air operators’ compliance with the minimum safety standards and the applicants’ eligibility for air operations certification. The FAA will use the information it reviews to insure compliance and adherence to regulations and, if necessary, take enforcement action on violators of the regulations.
