Abstract: This information is used to ensure that owners assess energy needs in an effort to reduce project operating costs and utility expenses through cost-effective energy conservation and efficiency measures. HUD used the information in monitoring the Department’s energy strategy and for inclusion in the Department’s biannual reporting requirements to Congress as required by Section 154 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Short Statement: Section 154 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 directs HUD to develop and implement an integrated strategy to reduce utility expenses through cost-effective energy conservation. The Department has developed a form to assist owners with surveying energy needs to adopt measures that will reduce energy consumption.
