Motor carriers are required to maintain certain information in a Driver Qualification (DQ) file for each driver it employs. The file contains the minimum information necessary to document the qualifications of a driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV)in interstate commerce. Under certain circumstances a motor carrier is required to furnish portions of the DQ file of a former employee to a motor carrier considering that driver for employment. This ICR is being revised due to a Final Rule entitled, "Safety Requirements for Operators of Small Passenger-Carrying Comnmercial Motor Vehicles Used in Interstate Commerce," that would require for-hire motor carriers and drivers operating commercial motor vehicles that are designed or used to transport between 9 and 15 passengers in interstate commerce to comply with FMCSA driver qualification requirements regulations.
