The American Indian Trust Reform Act of 1994 directs the Secretary of the Interior to establish guidelines to carry out the fiduciary duties owed to tribes and individual Indians to administer trust funds held exclusively for their benefit. This information collection facilitates the management of those funds on behalf of individual Indians.

This number represents a decrease in number of responses of 32,796. The number of responses previously approved was 74,905. The reason for the decrease in the burden hours of this information collection is primarily due to the fact that the Cobell litigation has ended and all funds have been distributed to the individual IIM account holders. OST has updated their estimate to reflect the actual number of documented OST contacts with beneficiaries during FY’19, who requested account updates.
