This collection will provide FNS with
nationally representative estimates of improper payments from WIC
arising from errors in the certification or denial of WIC
applicants, in order to fulfill IPERIA requirements. In addition,
information on participant experiences and State and local agency
policies as they relate to certification will be
collected.

This is a new information
collection request for a study, the Third National Survey of WIC
Participants (NSWP-III), which will provide the Food and Nutrition
Service with nationally representative estimates of improper
payments from the Special Supplemental Program for Women, Infants,
and Children (WIC). This new information collection request will
add 5,132 burden hours and 47,779 responses as a program change to
OMB's inventory.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
