This is to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for a three-year renewal for the information collection titled, “Cargo Tank Specification Requirements,” OMB Control No. 2137-0014, which is currently due to expire on May 31, 2018. These reporting and recordkeeping requirements are mandatory for regulated entities who manufacturers, maintain, repair, and inspect DOT specification cargo tanks. The information collected are used by shippers, carriers, and owners of cargo tanks to verify that the inspection, testing, requalification and maintenance standards are met, which mean that the cargo tanks are safe for continued use in hazardous materials service. There is a revision in the number of responses in this information collection. During review of this burden, PHMSA noted it has historically consolidated of all reporting and recordkeeping requirements into one information collection; this renewal request separates the information collections into 15 different reporting and recordkeeping requirements. This revision decreases the number of responses. However, this did not revise the number of total burden hours, because no changes were made to the cargo tanks requirements.
The latest form for Cargo Tank Specification Requirements expires 2021-07-31 and can be found here.
