OMB approves this collection for a period of three years. To request approval of information collections under this generic approval, the agency must do the following: 1) Unless an agency is using multiple modes of collection (e.g., paper forms and electronic submissions), provide a Generic Clearance Submission Template for each Instrument; 2) If the agency is using multiple modes of collection (e.g., paper forms and electronic submissions), the same Generic Clearance Submission Template may be used for both instruments; 3) each Generic Clearance Submission Template must be uploaded as a Supplementary document using a naming convention that allows the public to identify the associated instrument; 4) submit no more than five Generic Submission Templates with each request.

TTB uses the surveys, focus groups, and other information collection instruments approved under this generic clearance to gather customer and stakeholder feedback on TTB programs in an efficient, timely manner. TTB uses the collected information to help improve service delivery and to help ensure that its customers and stakeholders have effective, efficient, and satisfactory experiences with the bureau’s programs.

There are no program changes associated with this generic clearance. As for adjustments, TTB is increasing the number of potential respondents and resulting burden hours for the information collections issued under this generic clearance from 10,000 to 25,000 because TTB plans to issue more customer surveys and other feedback information collections than it has in the past, and it plans to issue those collections to larger respondent pools.
